Tomorrow, Thursday, July 6, 2017, the House will take a vote on Senate Bill 6 along with Senate Bill 9 and Senate Bill 42. All three bills will restore funding to higher education in the state of Illinois to all public colleges and universities, including Parkland College.

It is hard to imagine the depth of the destruction the lack of a state budget has caused, but it is also difficult to fathom the devastation that will continue if this bill does not pass the House with a veto-proof majority. In an effort to educate people about what is at stake, I have gathered together the line items in the bill that specifically relate to the funding Illinois community colleges will receive via the Illinois Community College Board and the funding our poorest students will receive when MAP grant funds  are restored via Illinois Student Assistance Commission.
